A Universal Introduction to the True‑Self Awakening Journey
You and most people today sense that something is “off.”
Despite technology, convenience, and endless information, the mind feels more restless than ever. Anxiety rises. Identity feels unstable. The world seems chaotic and unpredictable. And most of all, it seems as if there is more personal suffering than before.
Yet thousands of years ago, long before AI, politics, or financial pressure existed, the ancient sages of India described exactly this human condition — and offered a precise and practical map out of it.
Not only is this detailed map to inner peace and fulfilling life found in the Bhagavad Gita, illuminated through the life stories in Autobiography of a Yogi, but also echoed in the great teachings of Buddha, Jesus the Christ, Judaism, and Islam, to mention a few.
And it all begins with one essential question, the answer to which if not understood creates suffering:
✅ What is reality — and what are you?
First Article: Series Into the New Year
Over the next few weeks, I’m releasing a powerful new series inspired by the Bhagavad Gita, Autobiography of a Yogi, and our own work on the Bag of Codes — the inner blueprint that shapes your life, your patterns, and your purpose.
If you’ve ever wondered…
✨ Why you repeat the same emotional or mental patterns
✨ Why your mind feels like your enemy instead of your ally
✨ Why you feel disconnected from your purpose
✨ Why you sense you’re meant for more
✨ Why spiritual teachings like Law of Attraction help… but don’t go deep enough
…this series is for you.
We’re going beyond surface‑level spirituality and diving into the ancient Vedic understanding of reality — the same wisdom that guided Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, and the great mystics across traditions.
🌿 The Gita’s First Revelation: You Are Not the Body or the Mind
In the Gita, Lord Krishna a Guide tells Arjuna, his student, that the body is temporary, the mind is changeable, but the Self — the conscious witness — is eternal.
This is the foundation of all spiritual awakening.
Yogananda expands this beautifully:
“You are not a body with a Soul. You are a Soul temporarily using a body.”
This single insight dissolves fear, confusion, and the frantic search for identity.
It explains why the world feels unstable — because we are trying to anchor ourselves in something that constantly changes.
Why is this important?
Most teachings, and programs fail when they are based on processes and what to do and what not to do with this body and mind, without guiding you to firstly understand what you are.
Another Vital Aspect: You Don't Arrive As A Blank Slate
In our podcast series on True-Self Awakening, we have been delving into why we are born into a certain family, and with a certain body and attributes.
As you have already realized, no two babies (or persons) are identical- giving rise to the use of biometrics in identity confirmations. Have you wondered how this is so?
🎮 The Video Game Analogy: How Reality Actually Works
In our 2014 book, Taming The Female Impostor, Book of Secrets to Rescuing Humanity. A female's guide to a better life, we introduced the concept of the Bag of Codes — the energetic blueprint we carry from life to life, similar to the Gita’s “bag of karma.”
Here’s the simplest way to understand it:
✅ Imagine you’re choosing a video game.
You scroll through a massive library of worlds, challenges, and storylines.
✅ You select a character.
You choose its appearance, strengths, weaknesses, personality traits — all based on the “codes” you want to explore or upgrade.
✅ You enter the game.
Once inside, you forget you’re the player.
You become deeply attached to the character’s wins and losses.
You feel fear, pride, shame, joy — all based on what happens to this temporary avatar.
✅ But when the game ends…
You return to the Player’s Seat.
You collect your “credits” — the lessons learned.
You update your Bag of Codes.
And you choose your next game.
✅ This is the essence of being born into this life, or reincarnation.
This is the Gita.
This is Yogananda.
This is our book’s message.
This is the universal constant behind all spiritual traditions-inspiring you to improve your life, and be a better person each day.
🌟 The Bag of Codes: Your Personal Operating System
Your Bag of Codes includes:
- tendencies
- fears
- strengths
- emotional patterns
- karmic imprints
- intuitive gifts
- unresolved lessons
- soul-level desires
The Gita calls this samskara — impressions carried from life to life.
Yogananda calls it karma — the stored energy of past actions.
Our book calls it the Bag of Codes — a modern, accessible way to understand the same truth.
✅ The most empowering part?
Life is not predestined.
Just as in each video game, you have choices. Each choice updates your codes in this very moment through awareness.
The instant you know you are the Player, not the character, the game changes.
Just as Angelina Jolie takes on several characters in a variety of movies, if she forgets that she is actually in her daily life, not that character, her world takes on a different meaning and reality.
🌍 What All Traditions Agree On
Every major spiritual tradition points to this same inner fundamentals:
Buddha:
“All phenomena are preceded by the mind.”
Translation: the game is mental; the Self is beyond it.
Jesus the Christ:
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
Translation: the real world is inside, not outside.
Judaism (Kabbalah):
A divine spark lives in every soul.
Translation: your true identity is sacred consciousness.
Islam (Sufi):
“He who knows himself knows his Lord.”
Translation: self‑knowledge is God‑knowledge.
Yogananda:
“The universe is a dream of the Divine.”
Translation: the game is temporary; the Player is eternal.
The Gita:
“The Self cannot be burned, cut, or destroyed.”
Translation: you are indestructible awareness.
These teachings don’t contradict each other — they complete each other. It's been a message for peoples around the planet, of different cultures and at different times, about the nature of reality, what this world actually is, and what you in fact truly are.
🔥 Why This Matters for Modern Professionals
When you forget you are the Player, you:
- feel overwhelmed by work
- take everything personally
- fear failure
- cling to outcomes
- compare yourself to others
- lose your sense of purpose
- feel trapped in stress and identity confusion
But when you remember your true nature:
- clarity returns
- fear dissolves
- intuition awakens
- purpose becomes obvious
- stress loses its power
- you act from inner stability
- you shine at work without burnout
This is in essence the beginning of True‑Self Awakening.
🧭 Your Next Step: Discover Your Path
Every person has a dominant inclination en route to their self discovery.
- Jnana — through wisdom and reasoning
- Karma — through actionable endeavors
- Bhakti — through devotion and love in their daily lives
- Raja — through meditation to experience their true nature
Your current inclination shapes how you awaken, how you learn, and how you update your Bag of Codes. Remember, you are always in a state of BEING, this means that your interests are also on the move.
You may feel that you are more inclined to one way or a certain mixture of paths, with one dominating, and over time you may find those changing.
